اِتَّقي اللَّهَ قَد حَجَجتِ وَتوبي

اِتَّقي اللَّهَ قَد حَجَجتِ وَتوبي

لا يَكونَنَّ ما صَنَعتِ خَبالا

لا يَكونَنَّ ما صَنَعتِ خَبالا

Fear God—you have made the pilgrimage—and repent.

Fear God, you have made the pilgrimage, so repent,

Let not what you have done turn to ruin.

Let not what you have done become disgraceful.

وَيكِ يا دومُ لا تَدومي عَلى الخَم

وَيكِ يا دومُ لا تَدومي عَلى الخَم

رُ وَلا تُدخِلي عَلَيكِ الرِّجالا

رُ وَلا تُدخِلي عَلَيكِ الرِّجالا

Woe to you, Dum! Do not keep drinking wine,

Woe to you, O Dum, do not persist in revelry,

Nor admit men into your presence.

And do not let men enter upon you.

إِنَّ بِالمِصرِ يوسُفاً فَاِحذَريهِ

إِنَّ بِالمِصرِ يوسُفاً فَاِحذَريهِ

لا تَصيري لِلعالَمينَ نَكالا

لا تَصيري لِلعالَمينَ نَكالا

Indeed, Yusuf is in the city, so beware of him.

Joseph is in Egypt, so beware of him,

Do not become a warning to all the world.

Lest you become a scandal for all people.

وَثَقيفٌ إِن تَثقَفَنكِ بِحَدٍّ

وَثَقيفٌ إِن تَثقَفَنكِ بِحَدٍّ

لَم يُساوِ الإِهابُ مِنكِ قِبالا

لَم يُساوِ الإِهابُ مِنكِ قِبالا

And if Thaqif seizes you for a prescribed punishment,

And if Thaqif seize you for wrongdoing,

Your hide would not be worth a sandal thong.

Veiling will not equal forgiveness from you.

قَد مَضى ما مَضى وَقَد كانَ ما كا

قَد مَضى ما مَضى وَقَد كانَ ما كا

نَ وَأَودى الشَّبابُ مِنكِ فَزالا

نَ وَأَودى الشَّبابُ مِنكِ فَزالا

What has passed has passed, and what has been has been;

What is past is past, and what was, was,

And your youth has perished and vanished.

And youth has carried away its exuberance from you.
