عَجَباً لِواصِفِ طارِقِ الأَحزانِ

وَلِما تَجيءُ بِهِ بَنو الدَيّانِ

I wonder at the describer of the visitor of sorrows

And at what the people of tyranny bring about

فَخَروا عَلَيَّ بِجِبوَةٍ لِمُحَرِّقٍ

وَإِتاوَةٍ سيقَت إِلى النُعمانِ

So they attacked me with the clothes of a burner

And an imposition that was brought to An-Nu'man

ما أَنتَ وَاِبنَ مُحَرَّقٍ وَقَبيلَهُ

وَإِتاوَةَ اللَخمِيِّ في عَيلانِ

You are not Ibn Muharraq and his tribe

Nor the imposition of Al Lakhami in 'Ailan

فَاِقصِد بِذَرعِكَ قَصدَ قَومِكَ نَصرَهُم

وَدَعِ القَبائِلَ مِن بَني قَحطانِ

So intend with your cubit the intention of your people, help them

And leave the tribes from the children of Qahtan

إِن كانَ سالِفَةُ الإِتاوَةِ فيكُمُ

أَولى فَفَخرُكَ فَخرُ كُلِّ يَماني

If the background of the imposition is among you

It is more right, then your pride is the pride of every Yemeni

وَاِفخَر بِرَهطِ بَني الحِماسِ وَمالِكٍ

وَبَني الضِبابِ وَرَعبَلٍ وَقِيانِ

And pride in the kin of Bani Al Himas and Malik

And the children of Dibab, Ra'bal and Qayan

فَأَنا المُعَظَّمُ وَاِبنُ فارِسِ قُرزُلٍ

وَأَبو بَراءٍ زانَني وَنَماني

So I am the most honorable, and the son of the horseman Qurzul

And Abu Bara' adorned me and provided me

وَأَبو جَرِيٍّ ذو الفَعالِ وَمالِكٌ

مَنَعا الذِمارَ صَباحَ كُلِّ طِعانِ

And Abu Jariy Dhu Al-Fa'al and Malik

Prevented the protection every morning of accusation

وَإِذا تَعاظَمَتِ الأُمورُ هَوازِناً

كُنتُ المُنَوَّهَ بِاِسمِهِ وَالباني

And if matters became grand for Hawazin

I would be the one whose name is praised and built
