وَإِنَّكِ لَو رَأَيتِ أُمَيمَ قَومي

وَإِنَّكِ لَو رَأَيتِ أُمَيمَ قَومي

غَداةَ قُراقِرٍ لَنَعِمتِ عَينا

غَداةَ قُراقِرٍ لَنَعِمتِ عَينا

And indeed, had you seen my people, Umaym,

If you had seen the women of my tribe

on the morning at Qurāqir, your eyes would have rejoiced,

One morn after a night of heavy rain,

وَهُنَّ خَوارِجٌ مِن حَيِّ كَعبٍ

وَهُنَّ خَوارِجٌ مِن حَيِّ كَعبٍ

وَقَد شُفِيَ الحَرارَةُ وَاِشتَفَينا

وَقَد شُفِيَ الحَرارَةُ وَاِشتَفَينا

while they were leaving Kaʿb's encampment,

As they left the dwelling place of Ka'b,

the burning anger had been assuaged, and we had found satisfaction.

When the fever of heat was allayed,

وَقَد صَبَّحنَ يَومَ عُوَيرِضاتٍ

وَقَد صَبَّحنَ يَومَ عُوَيرِضاتٍ

قُبَيلَ الشَرقِ بِاليَمَنِ الحُصَينا

قُبَيلَ الشَرقِ بِاليَمَنِ الحُصَينا

And on the day of ʿUwayriḍāt they had attacked at dawn

On a day of 'Uwairidh, beside the east,

al-Ḥuṣayn in Yemen, just before sunrise.

At the fortress of Yemen, assembling,

وَبِالمَرداتِ قَد لاقَينَ غُنماً

وَبِالمَرداتِ قَد لاقَينَ غُنماً

وَمِن أَهلِ اليَمامَةِ ما بَغَينا

وَمِن أَهلِ اليَمامَةِ ما بَغَينا

And at al-Mardāt they had found booty,

And at Mardad we met the flocks,

and from the people of al-Yamāmah, what we sought.

And from the people of Yamamah asked no wrong.
