أرى الطفلَ الذي كوَّنتَ منهُ

بما علَّمتَهُ الرَّجُلَِ الجديدا

I see the child from whom you fashioned,

I see the child from whom you have fashioned,

through all you taught him, the new man—

through what you taught him, the new man—

فتىً للدهر أخلاقاً وعلماً

فتىً للدهر أخلاقاً وعلماً

كلا عِلْمَيه منكَ بأن يسودا

كلا عِلْمَيه منكَ بأن يسودا

a young man for the times, in character and learning;

a youth for the ages in character and knowledge,

both of these come from you, so that he may lead.

both his kinds of knowledge from you, so that he may excel.

أتدري اليوم والخمسون مرَّتْ

أتدري اليوم والخمسون مرَّتْ

وما تركتْ يداك بها جهودا

وما تركتْ يداك بها جهودا

Do you know—now that fifty years have passed,

Do you know today, now that fifty years have passed,

your hands sparing no effort throughout them—

and your hands have spared no effort throughout them,

بأنك قد نفعتَ وكان حقّاً

بأنك قد نفعتَ وكان حقّاً

علينا أن نُقيم لذاك عيدا

علينا أن نُقيم لذاك عيدا

that you have brought benefit, and that it was only right

that you have done good, and that it was right

for us to make of this a celebration?

for us to hold a celebration for that?

إذا لم تدرِ أنتَ فنحن أدرى

إذا لم تدرِ أنتَ فنحن أدرى

بأنكَ خالقٌ وطناً جديدا

بأنكَ خالقٌ وطناً جديدا
