حاشاك من هذا الخطاب خطاباً

يا خير أملاك الزمان نصاباً

يا خير أملاك الزمان نصاباً

You are above being addressed in such terms,

Spare me from this speech, oh the best

O noblest-born among the kings of the age!

Of the eras' possessions, erected high.

لكن إذا ما أفسدت علماؤكم

لكن إذا ما أفسدت علماؤكم

معمور معتقدي وصار خرابا

معمور معتقدي وصار خرابا

But if your scholars lay waste to

But if your scholars spoil my inhabited

The flourishing edifice of my creed, and it becomes a ruin,

Beliefs and render them ruins,

ودعوتمو فكري إلى أقوالكم

ودعوتمو فكري إلى أقوالكم

من بعد ذاك أطاعكم وأجابا

من بعد ذاك أطاعكم وأجابا

And you summon my mind to your teachings,

And invite my thoughts to your words -

After that, it will obey you and respond.

Afterwards, I will obey and answer you.

فاشدد يديك على صفاء محبتي

فاشدد يديك على صفاء محبتي

وامنن علي وسد هذا الباب

وامنن علي وسد هذا الباب

So hold fast with both hands to the purity of my love,

So strengthen your hands upon my pure love,

And grant me this favor: shut this door.

Bestow favor upon me, and close this door.
