O Abu Hasan, a reward has come to me
Aba Hasan, Muthawwaba came to me,
of the lowest grade in return for the highest.
From the lowest pattern, not the highest,

Coarse garments came to me, as though they were
She brought me thick clothes as if
thoughts weaving verse for misers.
Tailors wove the silk unwillingly.

وليand I have مذهباتgolden verses فيكin your praise ليستare not بأسمالtattered rags
And where are the gold-adorned garments, fresh and fine,
Where are the gilded clothes, so old,
when I have golden verses in your praise that are no tattered rags?
While for you I have no thrift in gold.

The newness of your deeds will soon wear out,
Yours will wear out in time for sure,
while my words will endure as day and night pass.
While my words last for generations more.

And my neck will be left bare of the ornaments of your bounty,
Your jewelry still adorns your hands,
while the neck of your glories will be forever adorned with them.
While mine are bare, and will always so stand.

But for my modesty before your eminence, I would have returned them,
If not for manners, I'd give them back,
and would not have accepted a cheap trifle from one so dear.
Not taking cheap tin for fine gold I lack.

قسيمكyour partner لوif أحوجتI were in need فيin النفسlife والمالand wealth
But what kept me from that was knowing that I am
But my knowledge stops me for I know,
your partner in life and wealth, should I be in need.
We'd share all, if in need, money or soul.
