نسيان مولاي الحديث معي

نسيان مولاي الحديث معي

It is neither far-fetched nor impossible

Not far nor unattainable

that my lord should forget his conversation with me.

Is my Master's recent promise to me

والحر في مرقدي يذكرني

والحر في مرقدي يذكرني

موعده لي بذلك النطع

موعده لي بذلك النطع

And the heat in my bed reminds me

And the free man in my bed reminds me

of his promise to me of that leather mat.

Of His word to me of that sip

فامنن به مع مخدتيه وجد

فامنن به مع مخدتيه وجد

واصفع بإنفاذها قفا طمعي

واصفع بإنفاذها قفا طمعي

So favor me with it, with its two cushions, and be generous;

So bless Him as my pillow and ardency

and, by sending it, slap the nape of my greed.

And turn me away from coveting more

ولا تكلف علاك جدته

ولا تكلف علاك جدته

فكم خليع يعد في الخلع

فكم خليع يعد في الخلع

And do not trouble your eminence over its being new:

And do not burden yourself with his intensity

for many a castoff is counted among robes of honor.

For how many dishonorable ones make promises of gifts
