I redeem my people whom I raised

لقد زهدتني في رجال صلاتكم

ومن شام نور الشمس لم يحمد الفجرا

Indeed, your gifts have made me lose interest in other men;

Indeed, your prayers made me disdain men

and whoever has seen the sun's light does not praise the dawn.

As the light of sun from Syria was never praised at dawn

بعثت بطرف يسبق الطرف غفوة

وتغدو الرياح الهوج من خلفه حسرا

You sent a noble steed that outstrips the eye's sleepy blink,

I sent a glance faster than a drowsy glance

And you sent it peerless in beauty, as though I
