إِذاwhen اشْتَدَّgrows severe ماwhat أَلْقىI endure جَلَسْتُI sit إِزاءهُfacing him
إِذا اشْتَدَّ ما أَلْقى جَلَسْتُ إِزاءهُ
وَنارُand the fire الهَوىpassion قَدْalready أُضْرِمَتْhas been kindled بَيْنَamid أَوْصاليmy limbs
وَنارُ الهَوى قَدْ أُضْرِمَتْ بَيْنَ أَوْصالي
When what I endure grows severe, I sit facing him,
When my torment becomes intense, I sit facing it,
While the fire of passion has been kindled amid my limbs.
And the fire of passion burns within my bones.
أُقَبِّلُI kiss منْfrom فِيهِhis mouth نَسِيمَbreeze كَلامِهِhis speech
أُقَبِّلُ منْ فِيهِ نَسِيمَ كَلامِهِ
إِذاwhen مَرَّpasses بيby me صَفْحاًin passing بِأَفْواهِwith the mouths آماليmy hopes
إِذا مَرَّ بي صَفْحاً بِأَفْواهِ آمالي
I kiss the breeze of his speech from his mouth,
I kiss the breeze that bears his words to me,
When it brushes past me, with the mouths of my hopes.
When it passes gently through the mouths of my hopes.
