ياO حَاكِماًa judge قَدْhas جَارَacted unjustly فيin حُكْمِهِhis judgment
يا حَاكِماً قَدْ جَارَ في حُكْمِهِ
وَهْوَand he إِذَاwhen يُنْصِفُنيtreats me fairly خَصْمِيmy adversary
وَهْوَ إِذَا يُنْصِفُني خَصْمِي
O judge who has been unjust in his judgment,
O ruler who has wronged me with his rule
And who, when he treats me fairly, is my adversary.
Though when he gives justice against my opponent
تَرَكْتُI left جِسْمِيmy body عَرَضاًa mere semblance قَائِماًstanding
تَرَكْتُ جِسْمِي عَرَضاً قَائِماً
لَمْdid not يَبْقَremain لِيfor me مِنْهُof it سِوىexcept اِسْمِيmy name
لَمْ يَبْقَ لِي مِنْهُ سِوى اِسْمِي
I left my body a mere semblance standing upright;
I have left my body standing as mere goods
Nothing of it remained to me but my name.
Of it only remains my name
