شَوْقيmy longing إِلَيْكَfor you مُجاوِزٌsurpassing وَصْفِيmy description
شَوْقي إِلَيْكَ مُجاوِزٌ وَصْفِي
وَظُهورُand the manifestation وَجْدِيof my passion فَوْقَabove ماwhat أُخْفِيI conceal
وَظُهورُ وَجْدِي فَوْقَ ما أُخْفِي
My longing for you surpasses what I can describe.
And my manifest passion exceeds what I conceal.
ياoh لَيْتَwould that جِسْميmy body كُلَّهُall of it حَدَقٌeyes
يا لَيْتَ جِسْمي كُلَّهُ حَدَقٌ
حتَّىso that تَراكَthey see you وَلَيْتَهاand would that they تكْفيsuffice
حتَّى تَراكَ وَلَيْتَها تكْفي
Oh, would that my whole body were eyes,
So they might see you—and would that they sufficed!
مَاnever دارَpassed ذِكْرٌa remembrance مِنْكَof you فيin خَلَديmy mind
مَا دارَ ذِكْرٌ مِنْكَ في خَلَدي
إِلاexcept that طَرَفْتُI stung بِدمْعَتيwith my tear طَرْفيmy eye
إِلا طَرَفْتُ بِدمْعَتي طَرْفي
No thought of you ever passed through my mind
But I stung my eye with my tear.
