عِزُّglory الهَوىlove فيunder حُكْمِهاher rule ذُلُّabasement
عِزُّ الهَوى في حُكْمِها ذُلُّ
وَالحُكْمُand judgment فيin طُرقِthe ways of الهَوىlove جَهلُignorance
وَالحُكْمُ في طُرقِ الهَوى جَهلُ
Love’s glory under her rule is abasement.
And judgment in the ways of love is ignorance.
نَطَقَspoke الجَمالُbeauty بِعُذرِin defense of عَاشِقِهاher lover
نَطَقَ الجَمالُ بِعُذرِ عَاشِقِها
لِلعاذِلينَto the reproachers فَأُخْرِسَso was silenced العَذْلreproach
لِلعاذِلينَ فَأُخْرِسَ العَذْل
Beauty spoke in her lover’s defense
to the reproachers, so reproach was silenced.
