إِنِّي سأَلتُكَ بالنَّبِيِّ محمد

إِنِّي سأَلتُكَ بالنَّبِيِّ محمد

ووصيِّهِ الهادِي الأَمينِ المهتدي

ووصيِّهِ الهادِي الأَمينِ المهتدي

Indeed, I implore you by the Prophet Muhammad,

I ask you by the Prophet Muhammad

and his successor, the guide, trustworthy and rightly guided,

And his successor, the rightly guiding, trusted guide

وبِحُبِّ منْ أَغرى فؤادَكَ حُبُّهُ

وبِحُبِّ منْ أَغرى فؤادَكَ حُبُّهُ

بِصَبابةٍ مَمزوجَةٍ بتجلُّدِ

بِصَبابةٍ مَمزوجَةٍ بتجلُّدِ

and by love for the one whose love has enticed your heart

And by the love of the one whose love has captivated your heart

into ardent longing mingled with fortitude,

With youthfulness mixed with composure

وَبِسحرِ منطِقكَ الَّذي سُلْطانُهُ

وَبِسحرِ منطِقكَ الَّذي سُلْطانُهُ

حُكمٌ يَجورُ على القلوبِ ويَعْتَدي

حُكمٌ يَجورُ على القلوبِ ويَعْتَدي

and by the magic of your speech, whose power

And by the magic of your speech, whose authority

is a rule that oppresses hearts and oversteps its bounds:

Is a rule that tyrannizes over hearts and transgresses

هَلا هَجَرتَ بفيكَ قولكَ سَيِّدي

هَلا هَجَرتَ بفيكَ قولكَ سَيِّدي

مَوْلىً يَقولُ لِعبدِهِ يا سَيِّدي

مَوْلىً يَقولُ لِعبدِهِ يا سَيِّدي

Will you not cease saying 'my master' with your lips?

Why not abandon with your mouth, my master

A master says to his slave, 'O my master!'

A master who says to his slave, "My master"
