حُبّيهِmy love for him فوقbeyond نهايةِthe limit of الحبِّlove
I am lovesick for the beauty of a love-enthralled, lovesick one.
My passion for the beauty of Mutim is extreme,
My love for him surpasses the utmost limit of love.
My love for him surpasses the bounds of love.
أَشكوI complain إِليهto him جورَthe cruelty of مقلتهhis eye
فيقولُso he says موتُكyour death أَيْسرُthe least severe الخَطْبِtrouble
I complain to him of the cruelty of his eye;
I complain to him of the tyranny of my glance,
So he says, “Your death is the least of troubles.”
And he says, “Your death would be the easier fate.”
فإِذاthen, when نظرتُI looked إِلىat محاسنهِhis charms
أَخْرَجْتُهI absolved him عُطْلاًbare; devoid منof الذَّنْبِguilt
Then, when I look upon his charms,
When I look upon his charms,
I absolve him, leaving him bare of guilt.
I exonerate him from all blame.
أَدمَيْتُI made bleed بِاللحَظاتِwith the glances وَجْنَتَهُhis cheek
فَاقتصَّso it took revenge ناظرُهُhis eye مِنَupon القَلْبِthe heart
I made his cheek bleed with my glances;
I have stained his cheek red with glances,
So his eye took revenge upon my heart.
And his look has avenged itself upon my heart.
