عِنْدَat التَفَرُّقِparting حَيْرَةُbewilderment المُتَحَيِّرِof the bewildered
عِنْدَ التَفَرُّقِ حَيْرَةُ المُتَحَيِّرِ
Do not think what ails me strange, for there is nothing strange
In the bewilderment of the bewildered at parting.

For many a night has had its dawn go astray,
As though it were a thinker's passing thought of you.
والبدرُand the full moon أَوَّلَthe first time ماthat بداit appeared مُتَلَثِّماًveiled

يُبْدي الضِّياءَ لَنا بِخَدٍّ مُسْفِرِ
And the full moon, when first it appeared veiled,
Revealed its radiance to us with an unveiled cheek.

Fitted upon a head of ambergris.
