By his life, I shall not betray him—by his life!

And I shall surely enter the fire for his pleasure.

A moon: when you face him, by his radiance

you see your face reflected in his cheeks.

Imaginations are bewildered by his form,

and description falls short of describing the qualities of his qualities.

And he sways with his movements, as though

a branch of the bān tree were swaying in his movements.

His glances never met a man's gaze

without that gaze seeking refuge from his glances.

He revived him after death through union with him,

and killed him through abandonment before his death.

Why should I not risk, for love of him, a soul

whose thoughts have come to rest upon his footsteps?
