Sol 6.1

  1. قال منشا يوماً لسعدانه

    وهي سحور العينين فتانه

    One day Manshā said to Saʿdāna,

    a bewitching-eyed enchantress,

  2. من بعد أن غلف العوارض بال

    طيب وغلا بالمسك أسنانه

    after he had coated his side-whiskers with

    perfume and scented his teeth with musk,

  3. وامتص من خمرة معتقة

    تحول بين الدنان في الحانه

    and sipped some aged wine

    passing among the wine jars in the tavern—

  4. وكان خشف قد باسها بفم

    وهي من البوس بعد شبعانه

    a fawn had already kissed her with his mouth,

    and she was still sated with kisses—

  5. هل لك في قبلة وهاك خذي

    خمسين حمراً وحل هيمانه

    “How about a kiss? Here, take

    fifty red gold pieces”—and he unfastened his money-belt.

  6. قالت له هاتها ودونك فاس

    طعني بجعص وعجل الآنه

    She said, “Hand it over; go on, strike

    me with a turd, and hurry—now!”

  7. فباسها ثم قال قد بقيت

    أخرى فقالت وعظمت شانه

    He kissed her, then said, “There is still

    another.” She said, making much of him,

  8. ما هي قل لي ألم أبس شرجاً

    جمشت أعفاجه ومصرانه

    “What is it? Tell me.” “Did I not kiss an anus,

    whose guts and intestines I tickled?

  9. ألم أقدم فما أضن به

    إلى كنيف مرد حردانه

    Did I not offer a mouth I hold dear

    to a privy whose lizards ran wild?”

  10. يا ألف كشخان وابن زانية

    نعم ويا زوج ألف كشخانه

    “You thousandfold pimp, son of a whore!

    Yes, and husband to a thousand bawds!

  11. لم ترض أني قبلت مقعدة

    تحت سبال كأنها عانه

    You were not content that I had kissed an arse

    beneath whiskers that looked like pubic hair,

  12. حتى تناهيت في الهون فشبه

    ت لساني ببنت وردانه

    until you reached the depths of degradation and likened

    my tongue to a cockroach!”
