قالَت أَلا يُدعى لِهَذا عَرّاف

قالَت أَلا يُدعى لِهَذا عَرّاف

لَم يَبقَ إِلّا مَنطِقٌ وَأَطراف

لَم يَبقَ إِلّا مَنطِقٌ وَأَطراف

She said, “Will no diviner be summoned for this man?

She said, "Shall there be no soothsayer summoned for this one?

Nothing remains but speech and limbs,

There remains only a tongue and some limbs,

وَرَيطَتانِ وَقَميصٌ هَفهاف

وَرَيطَتانِ وَقَميصٌ هَفهاف

وَشُعبَتا مَيسٍ بَراها إِسكاف

وَشُعبَتا مَيسٍ بَراها إِسكاف

And two cloth wraps and a flimsy shirt,

Some tatters, a ragged shirt,

And two hackberry branches whittled by a craftsman.”

And two locks of hair on which poverty has placed its seal."
