إِنَّكَindeed you ياO اِبنَson of جَعفَرٍJa‘far نِعمَhow fine is الفَتىthe young man
وَنِعمَand how fine is مَأوىa refuge طارِقٍa night visitor إِذاwhen أَتىhe comes
Indeed, O son of Ja‘far, what a fine young man you are!
O son of Ja'far, you are a noble youth
And what a fine refuge for a night visitor when he comes!
And a welcoming refuge for one who comes at night
وَرُبَّand many a ضَيفٍguest طَرَقَcame by night الحَيَّthe encampment سُرىon a night journey

And many a guest who reached the encampment on a night journey
Many a guest who has knocked at the tents
Found food and conversation to his liking.
Has found provisions and talk to his liking
إِنَّindeed الحَديثَconversation طَرَفٌa part مِنَof القِرىhospitality
ثُمَّthen اللَحافُthe blanket بَعدَafter ذاكَthat فيin الذَراthe shelter
Indeed, conversation is part of hospitality.
Indeed, conversation is a joy of life
Then, after that, a blanket in the shelter.
Then, afterwards, blankets in the dust.
