Did you promise me wealth whose benefit I seek—

promises like ʿUrqūb’s to his brother in Yathrib?

And you promised me an ancient bowl—between its inner wall

and its rim, half a far-ranging steed’s course.

It leans as they leaned upon their sisters—

maidens sinking down in a tent held taut with ropes.
