لَكُمfor you حَرَمُsanctuary اللَهِGod المُعَظَّمُthe exalted لاnot لَناfor us
لَكُم حَرَمُ اللَهِ المُعَظَّمُ لا لَنا
وَبَطحاؤُهُand its gravelly plain وَالأَخشَبانِand the two Akhshab mountains وَزَمزَمُand Zamzam
وَبَطحاؤُهُ وَالأَخشَبانِ وَزَمزَمُ
Yours is God’s exalted Sanctuary, not ours—
God's exalted sanctuary is yours, not ours,
its broad valley, the Two Akhshabs, and Zamzam;
And its gravelly plain, the two Akhshab mountains, and Zamzam;
وَماand whatever رَدَّturned back شِعبَthe ravine المَأزَمَينِal-Maʾzamayn (the two passes) عَلىtoward مِنىًMinā
وَما رَدَّ شِعبَ المَأزَمَينِ عَلى مِنىً
وَجَمعٍand Jamʿ وَماand whatever وارىconcealed السِتارُthe veil المُحَرَّمُthe sacred
وَجَمعٍ وَما وارى السِتارُ المُحَرَّمُ
and whatever the ravine of the Two Passes encloses on Mina’s side,
And whatever turned the ravine of al-Maʾzamayn back toward Minā
and Jamʿ, and whatever the sacred curtain conceals.
And Jamʿ, and whatever the sacred veil concealed;
لَئِنif indeed لَمnot تُصَبِّحكُمcomes upon you at dawn بِهاin it مُستَغيرَةٌa raiding force
لَئِن لَم تُصَبِّحكُم بِها مُستَغيرَةٌ
كَصَكَّةِlike a blow أَنفِthe nose المَرءِof a man يَتبَعُهاfollows it الدَمُblood
كَصَكَّةِ أَنفِ المَرءِ يَتبَعُها الدَمُ
If no raiding troop falls upon you there at dawn,
If indeed no raiding force comes upon you there at dawn,
like a blow to a man’s nose, with blood following it—
Like a blow to a man's nose, followed by blood.
