أَيُّwhich المَنازِلِthe dwellings نَرضىwe accept بَعدَكُمafter you (plural) وَطَناas a home
أَيُّ المَنازِلِ نَرضى بَعدَكُم وَطَنا
هانَbecame easy الفِراقُparting فَماso not نُعنىwe care بِمَنabout whoever ظَعَناdeparted
هانَ الفِراقُ فَما نُعنى بِمَن ظَعَنا
Which dwelling can we accept as home after you?
Which dwelling shall we be content with after you, as home?
Parting has become easy, so we do not care who has departed.
Parting is base; how can we be concerned with whoever reviles us?
لَقَدindeed سَقَوكَthey gave you drink بِأَطباءٍfrom teats مُلَعَّنَةٍaccursed
لَقَد سَقَوكَ بِأَطباءٍ مُلَعَّنَةٍ
كَأَنَّماas though كُنتَyou were تُسقىyou are given drink السُمَّpoison لاnot اللَبَناmilk
كَأَنَّما كُنتَ تُسقى السُمَّ لا اللَبَنا
Indeed, they gave you drink from accursed teats,
Indeed they have given you poison to drink, not milk,
As though you were given poison to drink, not milk.
With accursed doctors, as if you were given poison, not milk.
