وَقَد ضَمَّها البَلَدُ الأَفيَحُ

Then, had you seen her in the darkness,

If you had seen her in the darkness,

with the vast land enfolding her,

embraced by the wide open country,

إِذا ذَكَرَتكَ عَلى وِنيَةٍ

إِذا ذَكَرَتكَ عَلى وِنيَةٍ

رَأَيتَ ذَفاريَّها تَنضَحُ

رَأَيتَ ذَفاريَّها تَنضَحُ

when she remembered you in her weariness,

when she remembers you with longing,

you would have seen sweat seeping from behind her ears.

you would see her eyes overflow.
