O Amr, I know of no burden that has weighed you down.
O Amrou, I know no burden that troubles you,
A noble man's need—so lend it your glance.
A free man's private dwelling, so turn your gaze from it,
مِنas قائِمٍone standing guard عَلىover العُلاglory ماhow أَحفَظَكvigilant you are

As one standing guard over glory, how vigilant you are!
Of one standing high nothing protects you,
Whoever roused you has not slept heedless of his need.
Who wakes for his need sleeps not.
