ماnever اِلتامَتِclosed الأَرضُthe earth الفَضاءُvast عَلىover فَتىًa young man
ما اِلتامَتِ الأَرضُ الفَضاءُ عَلى فَتىً
كَمُحَمَّدٍlike Muhammad مِنfrom بَعدِهِafter him أَوor قَبلِهِbefore him
كَمُحَمَّدٍ مِن بَعدِهِ أَو قَبلِهِ
Never has the vast earth closed over a young man
The land has never seen the likes of
Like Muhammad, either after him or before him.
A man like Muhammad, before or after him
عُمريby my life لَقَدindeed فَنِيَتhave perished مَحاسِنُthe beauties وَجهِهِof his face
عُمري لَقَد فَنِيَت مَحاسِنُ وَجهِهِ
فيهاwithin it وَقَدand indeed بَقِيَتhave remained مَحاسِنُthe beauties فِعلِهِof his deeds
فيها وَقَد بَقِيَت مَحاسِنُ فِعلِهِ
By my life, the beauties of his face have perished
My life! His beautiful face has vanished
Within it, yet the beauties of his deeds remain.
Yet the beauty of his deeds remains
زادَتincreased مَناقِبُهُhis virtues اِنتِشاراًin spread بَعدَهُafter him
زادَت مَناقِبُهُ اِنتِشاراً بَعدَهُ
وَحَديثُهُand word of him فَكَأَنَّهُso it is as though he فيamong أَهلِهِhis kin
وَحَديثُهُ فَكَأَنَّهُ في أَهلِهِ
His virtues have spread more widely since his passing,
His virtues have spread even more after him
And so has word of him, as though he were still among his kin.
And his words live on among his people
