If one day they thundered their threats at us,

from afar, we flashed keen-edged swords at them.

And one day at al-Ahwaz, his steeds were

having their jugulars severed at their throat-hollows by keen spearheads.

Death had its fill of them, yet still unsated was

your sword there, for all its blows against skulls.
