أَقولُI say لَهاto her حَيثُwhere اِنتَهىended مَسقَطُthe slope of النَقاthe sand dune
نَصَلتِyou slipped free وَأَيمُand by اللَهِGod مِنfrom رَملِthe sands of مُربِخِMurbikh
I say to her, where the sand dune's slope ended:
I say to her when the camel litter's descent ended,
You have slipped free, by God, of Murbikh's sands.
"We have arrived safely, by God, from the shifting sands,
نَجَوتِyou escaped عَلىdespite ماwhat فيكِis in you مِنof وِنيَةِweariness السُرىnight travel
وَطَيِّand traversing المَواميthe deserts سَربَخاًa vast waste بَعدَafter سَربَخِa vast waste
You have escaped despite your weariness from night travel
You escaped with your secret intention of journeying by night
And traversing the deserts, vast waste after vast waste,
And crossing the sand dunes, one after another.
بِحَيثُin a place where الفَتىthe young man لَمّاhas not yet يُجِبanswered دَعوَةَthe call of الفَتىthe young man
وَلاand not يَعطِفُshows compassion الأَخُّthe brother الكَريمُthe noble عَلىtoward الأَخِthe brother
Where no young man has yet answered another's call,
To where the young man doesn't answer the call of the young man,
And no noble brother shows compassion for his brother.
And the generous brother doesn't show sympathy to the brother,
وَلَمand did not يَبقَremain إِلّاexcept بَرزَخٌan intervening stretch فَاِقذِفيso cast بِهِwith it
وَراءَكِbehind you إِنَّindeed الدارَthe dwelling مِنfrom بَعدِbeyond بَرزَخِan intervening stretch
And only an intervening stretch remains—so cast it
Nothing remains but the intervening space, so cast it
Behind you: indeed, the dwelling lies beyond that stretch.
Behind you, for the abode is after the intervening space."
