    I go away and forget everything but love,

    even if misfortunes rob me of my beloved.

    فَلا الشَوقُ مَنسِيٌّ وَلا الدَمعُ ناضِبُ

    And the day of parting has only deepened my yearning;

    so longing is not forgotten, nor do tears run dry.

    I yearn when my riding camels moan, and within my heart

    are sorrows that do not weary the thoroughbred camels.

    So I have longing as long as a lover yearns,

    and I have weariness as long as the riding camels moan.

    And in my love for those dear to me, I surely preserve,

    even from afar, what kinsfolk fail to preserve.
