لا تُنكِري حُسنَ صَبري

إِن أَوجَعَ الدَهرُ ضَربا

إِن أَوجَعَ الدَهرُ ضَربا

Do not deny the beauty of my patience,

even if Time deals painful blows;

فَالعَبدُ أَصبَرُ جِسماً

فَالعَبدُ أَصبَرُ جِسماً

وَالحُرُّ أَصبَرُ قَلبا

وَالحُرُّ أَصبَرُ قَلبا

for the slave is more enduring in body,

and the free man more enduring in heart.
