I pay no heed to the words of reproachers,
I heed not the blame of those who chide
When they reproach me for loving Haytham.
When they reproach my love for Haytham

He holds all beauty in his thrall;
He has captured all beauty in his captivity
None who beholds him leaves save enslaved by love.
His glance strays not, forever intent

He is Muslim, yet did not refrain
In love from slaying the Muslim lover.
From slaying his loving Muslim kin

For his height and his glance, I incline to the
Straightened spear, thrusting with its broad, sharp head.
Spear's point, thrusting, never relenting

I kiss every sharp bloodstained sword

And the impact of arrows and their drawing out stir my longing,
The fall of arrows excites me and their pull
When he sends forth his glances like arrows.
When he sends glances like arrows flown

He who by them a number has sacrificed
He assails tightly woven, firmly wrought chain mail.
