    حَرَكاتُ غُصنِ البانِ مِن حَرَكاتِهِ

    And a slender youth who attained his wishes through his qualities;

    The bān bough takes its movements from his.

    So the sun blushes at the radiance of his brow,

    And the pomegranate blossom envies his cheeks.

    All beauty has become his captive,

    So it is as though Yusuf acquired some of his qualities.

    Beauty's lustre never left him in his stillness,

    O my reproacher, nor ever in his movements.

    Do not ever hope, O my reproacher, that I shall forget

    Him, for I shall not forget him—no, by his life!
