لَمَّا تَجلَّى وَجَهُ مَنْ

أَهْوَاهُ جُنَّ الكاشِحُ

أَهْوَاهُ جُنَّ الكاشِحُ

When there shone the face of the one

When the face of my beloved appeared

I love, the ill-wisher went mad.

The passionate lover went mad

فَقُلْتُ هذا الوَجْهُ عُذْ

فَقُلْتُ هذا الوَجْهُ عُذْ

رِي قالَ عُذْرٌ وَاضِحُ

رِي قالَ عُذْرٌ وَاضِحُ

So I said, “This face is my ex—

I said this face is my excuse

—cuse.” He said, “A clear excuse.”

He said the excuse is clear
