أَوجَبَتْ وَحْشَةُ الذُّنوبِ أنفِباضِي

أَوجَبَتْ وَحْشَةُ الذُّنوبِ أنفِباضِي

عَن سُؤَالي لكِنَّ رَبّي كَرِيمُ

عَن سُؤَالي لكِنَّ رَبّي كَرِيمُ

The desolation of sins has made me withdraw

My sins have made me shy from asking favors of Thee

From making my plea, yet my Lord is generous.

But my Lord is generous, noble and free

وَلَئِنْ كُنتُ غَارِقاً في ذُنوبي

وَلَئِنْ كُنتُ غَارِقاً في ذُنوبي

هِيَ كالبحرِ فَهْوَ بَرٌّ رَحِيمُ

هِيَ كالبحرِ فَهْوَ بَرٌّ رَحِيمُ

And though I am drowning in my sins,

Though deep in sin I'm drowned and dying

They are like the sea, yet He is benevolent and merciful.

His sea of mercy is boundless and wide
