مُذْ رَقَّ ذاكَ الخَصْرُ مِن ظالمِي

مُذْ رَقَّ ذاكَ الخَصْرُ مِن ظالمِي

رَجَوْتُ مِنهُ رِقَّةَ الرَّاحِمِ

رَجَوْتُ مِنهُ رِقَّةَ الرَّاحِمِ

Since that waist of my tormentor grew slender,

Since that waist complained of my injustice,

I hoped for a merciful one's tenderness from him.

I have hoped for tenderness from it.

وَمُذْ تَشكَّى جَوْرَ أَرْدافهِ

وَمُذْ تَشكَّى جَوْرَ أَرْدافهِ

أَشْفَقْتُ أَنْ أَدْعُو على ظالمِي

أَشْفَقْتُ أَنْ أَدْعُو على ظالمِي

And since it complained of the tyranny of his buttocks,

And since it complained of the tyranny of its hips,

I shrank from praying against my tormentor.

I have feared to invoke curses on my oppressor.
