قَالتْ جَمعْتَ لِفَاقَةٍ كَسَلا

قَالتْ جَمعْتَ لِفَاقَةٍ كَسَلا

فَانَهضْ وَقُمْ وادْأبْ لِهَمِّ العَائِلَه

فَانَهضْ وَقُمْ وادْأبْ لِهَمِّ العَائِلَه

She said, 'You have added idleness to poverty;

She said you have gathered for poverty a gown

so rise, stand up, and toil for your family's needs.'

So get up and rise and strive for the family's grief

فَأَجبْتُ هَلْ تَدْرِين لي سَبباً فقا

فَأَجبْتُ هَلْ تَدْرِين لي سَبباً فقا

لَتْ لا ولا وَتَداً وَهذِى الفاصِلَه

لَتْ لا ولا وَتَداً وَهذِى الفاصِلَه

Then I answered, 'Do you know of any means for me?' Then she—

So I replied do you know a reason for me? She said

said, 'No, nor a peg; and this is the dividing line.'
