أَO آلَhouse of تَمِيمٍTamim إنَّindeed حُزْنيَmy grief بَعَدهُafter him
أَ آلَ تَمِيمٍ إنَّ حُزْنيَ بَعَدهُ
لَتُنسيsurely cause to forget بهِthrough it الأَيامُthe days حُزْنَthe grief of مُتَمّمِMutammim
لَتُنسي بهِ الأَيامُ حُزْنَ مُتَمّمِ
O house of Tamim, indeed my grief after him—
Through it, the days will surely make Mutammim’s grief forgotten.
وإنْand though حَمَلواthey carried بالصَّالحيةِin al-Salihiyya قَبرَهُhis grave
وإنْ حَمَلوا بالصَّالحيةِ قَبرَهُ
َفَدَمعيyet my tears لهُfor him سَفْحٌa pouring forth بِسَفْحِat the foot of المُقَطَّمِal-Muqattam
َفَدَمعي لهُ سَفْحٌ بِسَفْحِ المُقَطَّمِ
And though they carried his grave in al-Salihiyya,
Yet my tears for him pour forth at the foot of al-Muqattam.
