أَنمْتُ طَرْفي قَرِيراً مِنكَ في دَعَةٍ

أَنمْتُ طَرْفي قَرِيراً مِنكَ في دَعَةٍ

لِمَوْعِدٍ قَدْ كَفَاني شَرَّ أَعْدائي

لِمَوْعِدٍ قَدْ كَفَاني شَرَّ أَعْدائي

I lulled my eyes to sleep, reassured by you, at ease,

I rested my eyelids happily because of you in leisure

because of a promise that has protected me from my enemies’ harm.

For a promise that had spared me the evil of enemies

وَقَدْ أَتَى ضَامِنُ الشَّخْتُورِ مُلْتَمساً

وَقَدْ أَتَى ضَامِنُ الشَّخْتُورِ مُلْتَمساً

إنجازَ وَعَدِكَ يا أَلفينِ مولائي

إنجازَ وَعَدِكَ يا أَلفينِ مولائي

And the riverboat contractor has come, seeking

And the guarantor of dignity came asking

the fulfillment of your promise, O my lord two thousand times over.

For the fulfillment of your promise, O thousands of my masters

ومَنْزِلي حَفَّهُ بَحرانِ دُونَكُمُ

ومَنْزِلي حَفَّهُ بَحرانِ دُونَكُمُ

وما ادَّعَيْتُ لَكُمْ مَشْياً على الماءِ

وما ادَّعَيْتُ لَكُمْ مَشْياً على الماءِ

And my home is surrounded by two seas that separate me from you;

And my dwelling is surrounded by two seas below you

nor have I claimed to you that I walk on water.

And I have not claimed that you walk on water
