I have not forgotten when she bade me farewell, weeping,

with the same flame in my heart as on her cheeks.

Then she shed moist pearls, wiping them away,

    from a crimson-tinted cheek to a henna-stained hand.

She promised me a meeting with her dream-phantom; I said, “And who

can sleep?” She said, “You have been modest in your request.

If you are robbing your eyes of their sleep,

then I may bestow upon the robbed what was stolen.”
