بِالعَلَمِwith the luminary الفَرْدِthe peerless رَوضَةًa meadow أُنُفَاfresh and ungrazed
بِالعَلَمِ الفَرْدِ رَوضَةً أُنُفَا
And one asked about a poem that breathed fragrance
with the peerless luminary, like a pristine meadow.
وَصَفْتُI described فيهاin it عُلُوَّthe loftiness of هِمَّتهِhis resolve
وَصَفْتُ فيها عُلُوَّ هِمَّتهِ
وَهَلْand can يَنالُreach السَّماءَthe sky مَنone who وَصفَاdescribes
وَهَلْ يَنالُ السَّماءَ مَن وَصفَا
I described in it the loftiness of his resolve—

I said to him, “Ibn al-Wahid is its reciter.”
Then he said to me, “He is honor enough for it.”
