ولاnor ثَالِثاًa third ضَمَّهُمْgathered them مَوْضِعُa place
ولا ثَالِثاً ضَمَّهُمْ مَوْضِعُ
And never have two poets been seen in one gathering,
Two poets did not meet in an assembly,
Nor has any place brought them together with a third.
Nor a third join them in that place,
كَأَنَّاas though we were مَصَادرُverbal nouns عِندَin the eyes of الوَرَىpeople
كَأَنَّا مَصَادرُ عِندَ الوَرَى
فَليسَso they are not تُثنَّىmade dual ولاnor تُجمَعُmade plural
فَليسَ تُثنَّى ولا تُجمَعُ
As though we were verbal nouns in people's eyes,
As if we are sources for mankind,
So they are neither made dual nor made plural.
That cannot be dualized or pluralized.
