Is your cheek stung by your sidelock,

Your cheek from your temple is smooth

or is its redness artificial?

Or is it made up with rouge?

وخَصْرُك المنهوكُ من دِقَّةٍ

وخَصْرُك المنهوكُ من دِقَّةٍ

أسالمٌ أمْ هُوَ مَقْطُوع

أسالمٌ أمْ هُوَ مَقْطُوع

And your waist, wasted by slenderness—

And your slender waist from slimness

is it intact, or is it severed?

Is it safe or cut off?

يا بادياً بالصُّبْحِ عن وجهه

يا بادياً بالصُّبْحِ عن وجهه

والليلُ فوق الصبحِ موضوع

والليلُ فوق الصبحِ موضوع

O you, from whose face dawn shines forth,

O you who at dawn reveals his face

while night is laid over the dawn!

مصايدُ العشاقِ مجموعةٌ
