She says to me—at our parting, we two
You say to me, as we part,
are opposites, our tears pearls and rubies—
our tears are pearls and rubies.

“Stay in your land this year.” I said to her,
Stay this year in your own land, I told her.
“How can I stay, when there is no sustenance in my home,
How can I stay here without food or home?
ولاand no بأرضكِin your land حرٌّa noble man يستجارُrefuge is sought بهwith him

إلا لئيمٌ ومذمومٌ وممقوت
and no noble man in your land with whom to seek refuge—
In your land no noble man can shelter
only one who is base, reviled, and detested?”
only the vile, despised and wretched.
