لي ولضيفٍ أفديه من ضيفِ
O the delight of our bathhouse and its seclusion,
O pleasant bathhouse and seclusion
for me and a guest I would ransom—what a guest!
For me and a guest I ransom from a guest

بدا بوجهِ المرآة حين بدا

ثُمَّتَ أبدى مجَرَّد السيف
When he appeared, he bore the face of a mirror;
He appeared with the face of a mirror when he appeared
then he revealed the unsheathed sword.
Then he revealed a bare sword

As he walks, his lower parts encroach
The bottoms of his walking sway
upon his upper parts—what an injustice!
However much the tops sway
وددتُI wished أنthat الحمامthe bathhouse ليfor me وطنٌa home
وددتُ أن الحمام لي وطنٌ
مُدَّةfor the duration of عمرthe life of الشتاءِwinter والصيفand summer
مُدَّة عمر الشتاءِ والصيف
I wished the bathhouse were my home
I wish the bath was a homeland for me
for as long as winter and summer endure.
For the duration of the winter and summer's life

This blameless one I am wary of
yes, by al-Ṣafā, al-Ḥajūn, and al-Khayf!
By purity, pilgrimage, and veil
