في جحفلٍ من جيوشِ الحسنِ جَرَّار
O people, a gazelle has visited, though he is no frequent visitor.
O people, an extraordinary gazelle has come to visit
Amid a vast host from the armies of beauty.

جلَّ المؤلِّفُ بين الثلجِ والنار
Fire is kindled in the snow of his cheeks.
The fire blazes in the snow from its cheeks
Exalted is He who brings together snow and fire!
The composer has reconciled fire and snow

دراهمٌ صَرْفُها ألفٌ بدينار
For him and the houris, were they compared with him, there is this analogy:
To him and to the houri, if a simile were made
Dirhams exchanged a thousand for one dinar.
Its exchanged dirhams would be a thousand for each dinar
