    My only cure is wine; so what is your

    view of generously granting me my cure?

    And let it be clear: when it is beheld by the

    eye, the eye enjoys the beauty of its clarity.

    For it is like air in the delicacy of its

    making—no, rather, it surpasses the bounds of air.

    هُوَ من ظاهرِ الإنا بإناء

    Its color clothes the vessel in radiance;

    it is a vessel outside the vessel.

    ريدِ في صحنِ وَجْنَةِ العذارء

    Like a virgin's saliva in color, and like the

    rosy flush upon the surface of a virgin's cheek;

    And like the beloved's scent, breathed in by the

    lover while the watchers are off their guard.
