  1. أنظرْ إلى السوسنِ في منتبهِ

    فإنه نبتٌ عجيبُ المنظرِ

    Look at the iris in its growing place [probable reading];

    For it is a plant wondrous to behold,

  2. كأنه ملاعقٌ من ذهبٍ

    قد خُطَّ فيها نُقَطٌ من عنبر

    As though it were spoons of gold,

    Upon which dots of ambergris have been traced.
