I would ransom you—the water of my eyes is fire

when I weep for you, and the tears are sparks.

I have melted away so much that, if on a sword’s edge

I slept lengthwise, the edge would not be too narrow for me.

And though I have melted in love for you, I have not beheld

    you, for gazes melt you.

You are light embodied, and it is enough for us

    that lights take bodily form.

So a day on which you visit is two

days, and a night on which you visit is day.
