منتظراً للدعوةِ الباطلهْ

منتظراً للدعوةِ الباطلهْ

I spent my day like this in vain,

I wasted my day so vainly,

waiting for the invitation that came to nothing.

Waiting for the empty invitation.

همِّيَ للرُّسْلِ وأنبائهم

همِّيَ للرُّسْلِ وأنبائهم

همُّ التي تُطْلِقُ بالقابله

همُّ التي تُطْلِقُ بالقابله

My anxiety over the messengers and their news

My concern was for the messengers and their news,

was that of a woman in labor over the midwife.

The concern released through reception.

يا دعوةً ما حصلتْ في يدي

يا دعوةً ما حصلتْ في يدي

بل ذهبتْ بالدعوةِ الحاصله

بل ذهبتْ بالدعوةِ الحاصله

O invitation that never came into my hands,

O invitation, nothing came to my hand,

but instead carried off the invitation I already had!

Rather it went to one with invitation fulfilled.
