How wondrous a day, in whose breast stretched

Quwayq, its two wings confined,

مُصَفَّدٌ يَلْثِمُ ماءَ الحَيَا

مُصَفَّدٌ يَلْثِمُ ماءَ الحَيَا

مِنْهُ لَمُخْضَرِّ عِذارَيْهِ

مِنْهُ لَمُخْضَرِّ عِذارَيْهِ

Fettered, kissing the rainwater

From it, for the green of its two cheek-lines.
