Has my heart a share with you, that it may find favor,

as longing’s fire blazes in my breast?

The lot of one whose lot you are is longing born of you.

How sweet is that lot from you!

You are the sun of day in face, and a branch of the

bān tree in stature, and a young gazelle’s eye in your glance.

Indeed, that rose dwelling on the cheeks

of yours has been harsh toward roses ever since it came to be.
